Buddhism is a religion
and philosophy focusing on the teachings of the Buddha Śākyamuni.
He was born Siddhārtha
Gautama and lived from the latter half of the the early
5th century BC. In general, the aim of Buddhist practice is to
end all kinds of suffering in life. To achieve this state, adherents
seek to purify and train the mind by following the Four
Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path, or the Middle
Way, and eventually to gain true knowledge of
reality and thus secure the ending of ignorance and of unhappiness
and the attainment of liberation or nirvāna.
A person who discovers the true nature of reality through years
of spiritual cultivation, investigation of the various religious
practices of his time, and meditation. This transformational discovery
is called bodhi which literally means, "Awakening" and is more
commonly called Enlightenment.
Any person who has become awakened from the "sleep of ignorance" by
directly realizing the true nature of reality is called a Buddha. Śākyamuni
is said to have been only the latest of many of these; there were
other Buddhas before him and there will be others in the future.
Accordingly any person can follow his example and become
enlightened through the study of his words "Dharma" and putting them into practice,
by purifying his mind.
Today, Buddhism is divided into three
traditions:
Theravāda ("The Way of the Elders" this path
attempts to maintain the Buddha's teachings as authentically as
possible)
Mahāyāna ("great vehicle" this path
has it's main focus on attaining enlightenment which is open to
everyone)
Vajrayāna (Which exists in Tibet and Japan claims to provide an accelerated
path to enlightenment.
This is achieved through use of tantra
techniques,
which are practical aids to spiritual development, and esoteric
transmission).
Buddha explained that all our problems and suffering
arise from confused and negative states of mind, and that all our
happiness and good fortune arise from peaceful and positive states
of mind. He taught methods for gradually overcoming
our negative minds such as anger, jealousy and ignorance, and developing
our positive minds such as love, compassion and wisdom. Through
this we can come to experience lasting peace and happiness. This
is done by following the"Four
Noble Truths" and in turn the noble eightfold path. The four
noble truths was the topic of the first sermon
given by the Buddha after his enlightenment and forms the basis
of buddhism today. |

|
The Noble Eightfold Path is the way to stop your
suffering and is the fourth part of the Four Noble
Truths. In order to fully understand the noble truths and
investigate for your self whether they were in fact true,
Buddha recommended that a particular path be followed
which consists of:
- Right View - Realize the Four
Noble Truths.
- Right Intention - Make a commitment to mental and ethical
growth in moderation.
- Right Speech - Speak in a non hurtful, not exaggerated,
truthful way.
- Right Action - Commit to wholesome action, avoiding
action that would hurt others.
- Right Work - Your job does not hurt you or others;
directly or indirectly.
- Right Effort - Make an effort to improve.
- Right Mindfulness - Develop the mental ability to see
things for what they are with clear consciousness.
- Right Concentration - Reach the state where you are enlightened
and your ego has disappeared.

Hi
Aymen
I must tell you, I read your book, and I've read many a metaphysical
book, but your knowledge as expressed by you, made me feel your
data is valuable information (MAYBE
THE VERY BEST)... You have a
way of clarifying that which you're teaching, making what is extremely
difficult (spiritual awareness) understandable, clear to me the
student...
Sincerely,
Darren

I didn't believe it at first.
I was pretty stubborn and thought I knew how to handle my life but
the part about getting rid of sexual thoughts intrigued me so I
went ahead - It's the best thing I've ever done.

Just a quick note to say hello
and thanks. I discovered I actually spent so much time fantasizing
about sex, what a waste of energy. Now I focus on my wife and my
business. The result is amazing.
